Brief History
The story of Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Hospital establishment is derived from a father's drama. It starts with the death of Hadija Sultan the daughter of Sultan Abdulhamid in the late 1800s, from diphtheria when she was 5 years old. After the Sultan Abdulhamid's daughter died, he wanted to build a mosque or a charity fountain for her sake. during that time, Dr. İbrahim Bey returned home after finishing his education in Germany, and he invited by the Sultan to his palace, Dr. İbrahim bey suggested to the Sultan that building a hospital for children can be more beneficial. So the Sultan allocated an area around Şişli district for the hospital's location and made constructions begin immediately. After a year and a half of work process, Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Hospital was opened on May 24, 1899.
Our Clinic
İt is possible to reach the oldest medical services related to Orthopedics branch in Şişli Hamidiye Etfal from the Hamidiye Etfal Medical bulletin published between 1899 and 1907. By the university reform in 1933, Pediatric, Pediatric Surgery and Orthopedics Clinic located in Haydarpaşa was moved from the university clinics to Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Hospital. 1981 yılında Sağlık Bakanlığı’nın Şef kadrosu açması ile birlikte Prof. Dr. Ünal Kuzgun şef olarak atanmış Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji alanında gerek akademik gerek hizmet alanında büyük ivme ile gelişme göstermiştir.
Our clinic has 42 beds divided to A and B Blocks, where pediatric and adult patients are hospitalized.
İt contains:
A Block: 3 single and 9 dual rooms with 21 beds
B Blok, 3 single, 2 quadrilateral, 5 dual rooms with 21 beds
Our clinic, beside its equipted with specialized staff, it is a clinic that accepts and recives patients not just from İstanbul but also from over all turkey and from abroad areas to offer them the needed advanced tests , tratment, operation. In addition to service, it has adopted the mission to found academicians and scientists in Orthopedics and Traumatology field. The clinic, which undertakes to continue its studies in the field of scientific publication, participates in scientific meetings related to Orthopedics and Traumatology both in the country and abroad, without interrupting its service.
