Brief History

Followed to University OF Health Sciences Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital our Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Clinic was established on 14 November 2005 by Prof. Dr. Yüksel ALTUNTASH. Its established date is the same as 14 November World Diabetes Day. It is the first Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases clinic and provides specialist training, it established in Istanbul under supervision of the Ministry of Health. Our clinic includes 24 beds as total, divided to 10 single rooms and 7 double rooms. 15 endocrinology subspecialists have been trained in our clinic so far, and 4 of them are still working in our clinic and since its establishment in 2005, it has trained 6 academicians.

 

Our Mission

Our missin is to create and implement a researcher that is continuously open to learn, questioning, participatory, solution-oriented training and comprehends the contemporary requirements, program in the field of endocrinology and metabolic diseases.

 

Our vision

It is to train physicians who will add benefit and value to their country, able to follow and interpret scientific developments with a universal perspective, who are innovative, who can do their job professionally ,well communicative, and well equipped in scientific and social fields. 

Our Goal and Strategy

During the training process, the aim is to develop clinical knowledge and skills in the field of endocrinology and metabolic diseases, and to provide developments in planning, implementation and conclusion of clinical research related to the specialty. At the end of the training process, it is aimed to train specialist physicians who are competent in the field of endocrinology, patient diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, and clinical management.

The training program has been prepared within the framework of the TR Ministry of Health Medical Specialization Board, Endocrinology and Metabolism Curriculum creation and standards (TUKMOS) and the Current Guidelines and principles of the Turkish Endocrinology and Metabolism Society (TEMD), aimed at gaining and increasing theory, clinical and interventional practice skills.

The determined goals and strategies are regularly updated by the clinical education officer and trainers.

 

Our Clinic

Our clinic is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, obesity, thyroid diseases, osteoporosis and other endocrinological diseases (hypothalamus and pituitary gland diseases, adrenal gland diseases, endocrine hypertension, hypoglycemic disorders, lipoprotein metabolism disorders, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, metabolic bone diseases) which are common in society. It also deals with educational activities such as diabetes patient school for patients.
