CLINIC OF EAR NOSE THROAT

Brief History

Our hospital was established as a Children's Hospital in 1899, and the K.B.B outpatient clinic and clinic have been operating since 1900. Our clinic, which has been conducting training since 1964, is one of the oldest and well-established clinics in Turkey, and since its establishment, Mr. Dr. Muhittin Nuri, Mr. Dr. Ziya Nuri Pasha, Mr. Dr. Riza Servet, Mr. Dr. Mr. Taptash, Mr. Dr. Haydar Ibrahim, Mr. Dr. Ekrem Behjet Tezel, Mr. Dr. Ihya Salih, Mr. Dr. İhsan Hilmi Duydal, Mr. Dr. Orhan Toros, Mr. Dr. Nakiyettin Yaltılım, Mr. Dr. Mehmet Ziyaettin Maktav, Mr. Dr. Abdurrahman Tuğyan Atatür served as chief in our clinic, respectively. After Dr Tuğyan Atatür got sick in 1981 and left the clinic chiefity, It was managed by Op. Dr. Kadir Güngör, the assistant chief of the clinic. Later, Mr. Assoc. Dr. Aras shenvar was appointed as chief in 1981. He held the chife position until 1998. In the same year, Assoc. Dr. Suat Turgut, Assistant Chief Op. Dr. Chetin Vural and Op. Dr. Burhan Dadash was appointed and during that period, respectively, Op. Dr. Burhan Dadash and Op. Dr. chetin Vural gained the title of associate professor from our clinic. Due to the increasing number of patients and the need for a new ENT clinic, in 2001, The second ENT clinic was established with the combination of Our clinic's assistant chief, Assoc. Dr. Burhan Dadaş and physicians trained in our clinic. Starting from this date until 2011, bothe clinics were served. After 2011, Assoc. Dr. Berna Uslu Coshkun has been appointed as training and administrative clinic responsible, and under her leadership, our clinic gained an accreditation certificate from the Turkish Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Surgents Association Qualification Board on 07 October 2016. In 2017, Prof. Dr. Suat Turgut was reappointed in our clinic . Currently Prof. Dr. Suat Turgut and Prof. Dr. Berna Uslu Coshkun continues their duties as training and administrative responsible staff.

Our Clinic

Our clinic is located in the 8th floor of the main building of Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Hospital, with a total of 24 beds. In our polyclinic located on the ground floor of the same building, general and sub-branch polyclinics as well as medical board examinations are carried out in 8 rooms.

Our audiology unit is on the ground floor of the same building, with 2 silent cabins and 2 audiometry devices, and we also have clinical ABR, clinical OAE and VNG devices. In our Sleep laboratory on the ninth floor, polysomnography and/or CPAP titration tests are performed on two patients 4 days a week.

In our two halls at the central operating room, almost all surgeries of our branch are performed with two operating microscopes, nerve monitoring device, radiofrequency device, endoscopic surgery system, tour and microdebrider device. We share the hall on the first floor of our hospital with other clinics for simple interventions performed with local anesthesia.

During the training period, training seminars are held every Friday at 7.30 am, after which an article hour is organized and recent literature information is discussed. Training visits are held every Wednesday under the management of our clinic staff.

Every year, active participation in congresses and meetings related to our discipline is ensured and our studies are published in local  and foreign journals.

Under the leadership of our dear professors, Prof. Dr. Suat Turgut and Prof. Dr. Berna Uslu Coshkun, our goal as Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital Ear Nose and Throat Clinic is to closely monitor and apply modern methods, to increase our academic performance in the national and international arena, to enable specialists and assistants to focus more on sub-branches that are their areas of interest, and to provide services. to increase quality and always aim for the best.
